Western Pennsylvania snowsports resorts completed a daunting list of improvements to prepare for the 2025-2026 season, which is expected to begin this weekend.

Seven Springs announced Tuesday that it would open at 8 a.m. Saturday with “limited terrain and early season conditions.” Blue Knob may open Friday and Hidden Valley, Laurel Mountain and Boyce Park Ski Slopes usually open in mid-December.

Some of the improvements are below-ground projects, a few of which have above-ground components.

Seven Springs installed 1,600 feet of 20-inch snowmaking pipe along Lost Boy, a beginner trail that is the resort’s longest at 1.3 miles.

Hidden Valley installed four new TechnoAlpin snowmaking guns to provide better coverage on its Continental, Cobra and Angel’s Elbow slopes. Its TechnoAlpin system
