COLUMBUS, Ohio — Finally, the fuddy-duddies at Heisman Trophy Inc. have updated their voting process. College football plays 14 extra playoff games over four extra postseason weeks these days. And to reflect this seismic shift, Heisman voters must wait an extra ... five days before casting their vote.

Polls open Saturday — instead of Monday — this week to ensure voters factor conference championship performance into their ballots. The tally closes two days later — 11 days before the first College Football Playoff game — to ensure we hastily define history.
