Hemlock and Chesaning gave their fans some extra basketball in their boys basketball season opener Tuesday.

Chesaning held a 34-17 halftime lead, but Hemlock rallied to tie the game and send it into overtime, outscoring the Indians, 9-0, in overtime to earn a 58-49 win Tuesday.

“At halftime, I told the team that this game is not over, and I think the players believed me,” Hemlock coach Matt Bauer said. “We knew there were going to be runs, and we knew we were going to make mistakes.

“Handling Chesaning’s pressure was an emphasis of practice all week, but it was difficult to simulate in practice and tough for our extremely young team to handle in Game One.”

Hemlock used a 19-6 edge in the third quarter to trim Chesaning’s lead to 40-36 go
