A rock legend is releasing his first solo album after more than 40 years in a band.
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea released the first single from his upcoming solo album. The eight-minute jazzy jam, titled “A Plea,” comes with a music video directed by his daughter, filmmaker Clara Balzary, showing Flea performing an interpretive dance.
“Yearning for a place beyond, a place of love, for me to speak my mind and be myself,” Flea sings. “I’m always just trying to be myself.”
The song will appear on Flea’s album coming out on Nonesuch Records in 2026. Additional details, include the record’s title and tracklisting, will be announced in the new year.
According to Ultimate Classic Rock , “A Plea” features Flea on bass, trumpet and vocals alongside modern jazz musicians like double bass
