Grassroots girls’ football in Darlington is getting a boost thanks to new investment and community support.
FC Darlington Locomotives, a volunteer-run club, is launching a new Development Centre with £800 of sponsorship from Hellens Group and Homes England to help expand football opportunities for young players across the area.
Gavin Cordwell-Smith, chief executive of Hellens Group, said: "Our focus at Burtree Garden Village is on creating a community that promotes wellbeing, opportunity and a strong sense of place.
"Supporting FC Darlington Locomotives fits perfectly with that.
"The club is doing outstanding work in helping young people, particularly girls, to develop confidence and new skills through football, and we’re proud to be involved."
