A library has applied to Coventry City Council for an alcohol licence. Earlsdon Library submitted the request to the local authority last month.
If granted, the community library will be permitted to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises everyday of the week, including 1pm until 10.30pm on weekends, 7pm until 10.30pm on Mondays and 6pm until 10.30pm Tuesday through to Friday.
The application states the licence being sought specifically to cater for special events held at the library. Volunteers who work there will be given required training.
The application states: "The Library will only sell alcohol as an on sale and only as a facility for planned events with a maximum of 60 persons on site.
"Alcohol will be sold in closed managed events and non invited or non ticketed member
