When Ethan Harris was five years old, he wore jersey number 5.
“When I was a little kid, I used to just do my age,” the Camas High School senior said explaining his choice of jersey numbers. “But then I stopped at eight. I had a great year, and I was like, man, I really like this number. So I just decided to ride that number 8 all through middle school.”
But then as a freshman on the Camas varsity basketball team, Harris had to grow up, in a sense.
“I chose 35 (at Camas) because my freshman year it was the last jersey number available,” he said. “We go by seniority in picking jerseys, and it was either 35 or 42. I picked 35.”
It makes sense, if you think about it. His favorite number was 8, and if you added 3 and 5, you get eight.
Harris planned to wear No. 35 throughout all four year
