Jay Timmons wanted to be clear: It wasn’t about money.

Timmons is the standout Pine-Richland senior defensive back whose recruiting saga was about a couple flips. Wednesday was the early national signing day for high school seniors, and Timmons signed with the Ohio State Buckeyes, the defending national champions and current No. 1-ranked team in the country. Timmons’ signing came after he made a verbal commitment to Indiana in April, flipped and committed to Florida State in June, and then flipped again in November, committing to Ohio State. Timmons made it official Wednesday when he signed a letter of intent with the Buckeyes.
