AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - One person remains in critical condition and three pets have died after a house fire on Albert Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire at 5316 Albert Avenue.

Upon arrival, fire crews reported heavy fire and smoke showing from the front side of a single-story, residential structure.

AFD says crews deployed hose lines and initiated fire attack operations while conducting search and rescue efforts after receiving information that a possible victim was inside the home.

Firefighters entered the structure, encountered heavy fire conditions in the attic area, and located one person in the front middle bedroom.

Officials say the victim was removed from the structure and transferred to medical personne
