CrossCountry has announced a significant update to its Christmas timetable, alleviating travel uncertainties caused by recent strike announcements. The train operator confirmed that a normal service will resume on Saturday, 6 December, following the suspension of planned industrial action by the RMT union. This reinstatement means that passengers can expect regular services on Saturdays throughout December, specifically on the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. Shiona Rolfe, Managing Director of CrossCountry, expressed relief at the resolution, stating, "We are pleased that RMT has called off planned strike action throughout December, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board to take them into the festive season." However, Rolfe cautioned that the short notice for reinstating services may lead to some last-minute cancellations. Additionally, she noted that ongoing engineering work on certain parts of the network could still result in changes to travel plans. Passengers are advised to check for updates as the festive season approaches.
