WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Internal Revenue Service is urging Americans to begin preparing now for the 2026 tax filing season, warning that changes under the newly enacted “One Big Beautiful Bill” will affect deductions, credits and how millions of taxpayers file their returns.
The agency launched its first “Get Ready” reminder to help filers understand what’s new before they submit returns next year.
The IRS and Treasury Department are still implementing provisions of the new legislation, which includes changes such as no federal tax on tips, overtime pay or car-loan interest . The law also creates a temporary deduction for seniors and other expanded benefits.
