The Los Angeles Clippers have released Chris Paul from their roster. NBA media veteran Chris Haynes tweeted the news this morning. The move comes in the midst of a five-game road trip for the Clippers, on the heels of a 140-123 loss to the Miami Heat. Los Angeles holds a 5-16 record this season.

Paul, a 21-year NBA veteran, joined the Clippers this summer on a minimum contract, presumably to finish out his career with one of the teams he is best known for suiting up with. Two weeks ago, the 40-year-old guard announced via social media that this season would be his last.

Paul has appeared in 16 games for the Clippers this year, averaging 2.9 points and 3.3 assists per game in 14.3 minutes. He is shooting only 32.1% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point arc.
