WASHINGTON (Gray News) – Could dual citizenship be a thing of the past? That’s what one senator from Ohio is hoping for.

Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio introduced a bill Monday that would end dual citizenship.
The Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025 would “establish that citizens of the United States must have sole and exclusive allegiance to the United States.”
Moreno was born in Colombia in 1967, and his family immigrated to the United States shortly after. He grew up in Florida and became a U.S. citizen at 18.
“One of the greatest honors of my life was when I became an American citizen at 18, the first opportunity I could do so,” Moreno said in a statement . “It was an honor to pledge an Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America and ONL
