Property owners in the north end of Clark County will see a nominal increase in their taxes next year after the county council unanimously approved a 1 percent increase for EMS District 1 emergency medical services on Tuesday.
North Country EMS serves EMS District 1, as well as southeast Cowlitz County and west Skamania County. The district has been providing ambulance services since 1976.
“We provide advanced life support transport to just over 1,000 square miles,” North Country EMS Chief Bryce Shirley said.
Shirley said the district relies on tax revenues to fund its operations. The levy will collect $1.03 million in 2026, an increase of about $10,000.
“That’s necessary for us to continue to provide services to EMS District 1,” Shirley told the county council.
