JACKSON. — A former Mississippi State Capitol Police officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to a federal charge accusing him of using excessive force against a handcuffed arrestee, according to federal court records.
Jeffery Walker, a former officer with the Capitol Police Flex Unit, was indicted earlier on a felony count of deprivation of rights under color of law. A docket entry in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi shows Walker entered a guilty plea to one count of depriving civil rights.
Walker remains free on bond and is scheduled to be sentenced April 8, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. He faces up to 10 years in federal prison.
