A number of varieties of shredded cheese have been recalled in 31 states and Puerto Rico because they could contain metal fragments.
Oregon is included in the recall, which affects cheese varieties produced by Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc. and sold under various brand names.
The FDA lists the recall as Class II, which means the products could cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” but the risk of serious health issues is “remote.”
Affected products were sold in these 31 states — Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Ut
