Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has attacked Conservative MPs after they jeered at a question about the impacts of poverty and inequality in the North East. Sir Keir was responding to a question posed by Blyth and Ashington MP Ian Lavery at Prime Minister’s Questions today.
Mr Lavery - who is a frequent critic of the Government, despite being a Labour MP - highlighted poor life expectancy, low pay and high levels of child poverty in his own constituency and the wider North East. He blamed some of those factors on the record of the previous Government.
