WASHINGTON — National Cookie Day is on Thursday, Dec. 4, honoring the sugary baked goods that have been enjoyed for centuries.
Several fast food chains and other restaurants have announced deals and freebies, celebrating the confectionery-focused holiday. National Cookie Day has not always been celebrated on Dec. 4, however.
In 1976, Sesame Street included on its calendar for the first time on Nov. 26. Cookie Monster also proclaimed his own National Cookie Day in "The Sesame Street Dictionary" and celebrates it
More than a decade later, Blue Chip Cookie Company co-founder Matt Nader then moved the holiday to Dec. 4.
