REPUBLIC — A 78-year-old local woman died Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 20, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said the woman, identified as Fay L. Norris, was driving westbound near milepost 303 — about one mile east of town — when she apparently lost control of her 2003 Chevrolet Tracker shortly before 8 a.m. The vehicle rolled and came to rest off the roadway.

Norris was pronounced deceased at the scene, the patrol reported.

Investigators listed “speed too fast for conditions” as the cause of the crash.
