The continuing resolution allows and continues (vis-à-vis the “Big Beautiful Bill”) the derating of many professions for the purpose of establishing the limiting value of student loans. Nursing is an example that hits close to home. My career in nursing spans more than 30 years. There are constant nursing shortages in Virginia, and nurses are the backbone of our health care system. Just ask a hospital patient who spends more time with them, nurses or doctors. Diminishing the amount and quality of care by exacerbating the nursing shortage is a tremendous error, and everyone will pay the price.
