A Lubbock grand jury this week indicted an 18-year old man accused of shooting a convenience store employee in both of her legs hours after he threatened another woman with a gun.
Ricky Cerna, who has been held at the Lubbock County Detention Center since Nov. 5, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony that carries a punishment of two to 20 years in prison.
His charge stems from a Lubbock police investigation that began Nov. 2 after patrol officers responding to an aggravated assault call arrived at the convenience store, where they found a 41-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds to both of her legs, according to a police report.
