Salvador Plasencia, one of the doctors involved in supplying drugs to Matthew Perry shortly before his fatal overdose, was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
The Friends star's mother and half-sister were present in the courtroom when the doctor was sentenced. Sherilyn Peace Garnett, a U.S. District Judge, ordered him to serve two and a half years along with a fine of $5,600. Plasencia, who pleaded guilty earlier this summer, was taken into custody after the hearing. Plasencia will also be required to complete two years of supervised release once his prison sentence ends.
The doctor previously referred to Perry as a "moron" in text messages to a physician, Mark Chavez, while discussing supplying the ketamine. However, he seemingly expressed a little bit of remorse during his hearing
