Meghan Markle’s father has been rushed into intensive care for urgent medical treatment, his son has confirmed.

Thomas Markle, 81, was taken to a hospital in the Philippines on Tuesday after becoming gravely unwell at his home. He underwent a three-hour emergency operation on Thursday, local time, and is currently being monitored in intensive care, according to his son.

Thomas Jr. said his father is expected to face another procedure soon to remove a blood clot.

Meghan and her father have been estranged since 2018, around the time of her wedding to Prince Harry.
