A person was found dead during a home fire in San Francisco Wednesday, according to authorities.

The fire department said they received reports of a home fire in the 200 block of London Street in the Excelsior District just after 2 p.m.

According to officials, firefighters launched an “aggressive interior attack” while also conducting rescue operations, during which a person was found. The person was pronounced dead at the scene, the fire department reported.

The fire was extinguished by 2:26 p.m., authorities said.

Officials reported an investigation is underway as is standard in incidents resulting in a fatality, and it is unclear whether any residents will be displaced due to the incident.
