WAYCROSS, Ga. — Some Pierce County homeowners are sounding the alarm over a proposed bypass they said would cut straight through their property, while commissioners from Ware, Brantley, and Pierce counties said the project is designed to address traffic concerns around Waycross.
Ware County Commissioner Jon Tindall said they are still in the very early stages of proposing a perimeter road around Waycross to ease congestion concerns.
“This is our family property that the proposed bypass is going to destroy,” said Blake Edwards, a Pierce County homeowner.
Edwards said four generations of his family live on the 70 acres of land his family purchased back in the 60s.
“This is just one of the most peaceful parts of our property, and this is where they want to put a four-lane highway.”
