BARDSTOWN, Ky. —
Next year is a budget year for the Kentucky General Assembly.
Before the short legislative session starts in January, the Senate Majority Caucus is meeting in Bardstown for a multi-day retreat to discuss their proposals for the dollars.
“The work we've done, from roads to school to tourism, constituent services and pensions, has always been about improving daily life and strengthening the future of this region,” said Sen. Jimmy Higdon.
Higdon, who is set to retire after this session, is leaving confident in the commonwealth's good footing.
According to Republican Senate Leaders, the last approved biennial budget of more than $100 billion in 2024 not only left a hefty rainy-day fund but also addressed critical areas like education and Kentucky’s teacher shortage.
