COLUMBUS, Ohio — Three former employees of a long-term care facility are charged in a patient’s death this summer.

A patient at the facility, William Dickerson, 51, was found unresponsive at his long-term care facility on South James Road on June 21 and pronounced dead.

According to the coroner’s report, the cause of death was hyperthermia as a result of environmental heat exposure.

Police investigated and said “detectives established a duty to care for Dickerson was neglected."

Police filed charges against three employees: Bonface Okoth, Aboucar Diane and Mariama Kabba.

Each of them were charged with felonies including involuntary manslaughter, patient endangerment and misdemeanor gross patient neglect.
