Emi Martinez could miss Aston Villa ’s Premier League clash with Arsenal this weekend after he pulled out of the Villans’ 4-3 win over Brighton in the warm-up.
The Argentine pulled up injured at the Amex Stadium and was forced to be replaced in the starting lineup by back-up goalkeeper Marco Bizot.
It thus throws into doubt whether the World Cup winner will be able to face his former club at Villa Park on Saturday.
Unai Emery , himself formerly of Arsenal and now Villa manager, issued an update on his first-choice shot-stopper at full-time on the Sussex coast.
"He was feeling pain in his back,” Emery explained.
“He couldn't even do a warm-up normally. We have Marco, who is a fantastic guy and professional."
