Sabrina Carpenter is revealing exactly what she wanted her controversial “Man’s Best Friend” album cover to convey.
The “Tears” singer, 26, came under fire in June when she teased the album's cover photo ahead of its Aug. 29 release. The image, which shows Carpenter on her hands and knees as a man standing behind her grabs a fistful of her hair, was blasted as degrading to women.
Carpenter released a second image at the time of a dog wearing a tag with the words “Man’s Best Friend” inscribed on it.
In a new interview with Variety , Carpenter, who was named the publication’s Hitmaker of the Year, said the album cover, to her, explored the duality of control and shared how she personally relates to that theme.
