TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A new visitor center at Sabino Canyon has gotten the green light to become a reality.
The Coronado National Forest has approved the new project after an environmental review.
The current visitor center has been greeting people at Sabino Canyon since the 1960s, and the staff said it’s not working anymore.
“It’s been added onto over the years, but it is just straining under the popularity of this place,” Coronado National Forest Recreation Heritage and Lands Staff Adam Milnor said. “We don’t have adequate restroom infrastructure, we have small facilities, we don’t have an indoor space for environmental education to welcome all the students and schools that come here, and we’re just seeing a set of buildings and facilities that are just frankly showing the
