Farmington Hills Mercy volleyball coach Loretta Vogel knew she had the pieces to have a special team in 2025.
But, putting the pieces together properly to complete the puzzle wasn’t an easy challenge.
Vogel knew it required moving some players to different positions, making a sacrifice for the team.
In the end, Vogel and the Marlins were able to complete that puzzle and win their second state championship in three years.
The biggest adjustment to the lineup came when senior Cree Hollier made the move from middle hitter to an outside hitter.
The Marlins were loaded in the middle with 6’5” McKenzie Andrews, 6’4” Ella Andres, and 6’2” Saniya Tucker. That didn’t leave a lot of room for Hollier, who stands 5’7”, but can explode off the floor.
