LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel urged state regulators Wednesday to deny approval of special power contracts for the OpenAI Stargate data center without holding a full contested case hearing, citing overwhelming public demand for transparency.
Nessel's statement came after the Michigan Public Service Commission held a public comment forum on DTE's application for approval of two special contracts to provide 1.4 gigawatts of power to the proposed facility in Saline Township.
"It is overwhelmingly clear from both the comments shared tonight and the majority of the nearly 5,000 public comments submitted online that Michigan's residents share in our concerns and demand transparency," Nessel said.
