The Kingston Frontenacs stayed close through 59 minutes, but lost their seventh straight game, falling 4-2 to the Brantford Bulldogs at the TD Civic Centre Wednesday night.
Goaltender Matthew Minchak kept the struggling Frontenacs close throughout, making 43 saves on 46 shots by the Canadian Hockey League’s top-ranked team.
Caleb Malhotra came back to haunt the team that he eschewed a year ago by scoring the winning goal five minutes into third period. The Frontenacs had made the son of former NHLer Manny Malhotra their first pick in the 2024 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, but he decided to play in Junior A in British Columbia and Kingston GM Kory Cooper traded the prospect’s rights to division rival Brantford.
