INDIANAPOLIS — Marion County voters filed into a northwest Indianapolis church Wednesday night to understand how a newly proposed congressional map could dramatically reshape Indiana’s political landscape.
The Indiana Black Legislative Caucus hosted a listening session at Purpose of Life Church, drawing residents from across the state who are trying to make sense of House Bill 1032, a redistricting proposal that would divide Marion County into four congressional districts, with some stretches reaching toward Illinois and others near the Kentucky line.
IBLC President Rep. Earl Harris Jr., (D-East Chicago) told attendees the proposal is less about improving representation in Indiana.
