Dec. 3 is National Signing Day and Oregon State football is taking its first steps in constructing a new roster for its new head coach.

JaMarcus Shephard, the man chosen for the job at Oregon State, spoke for the first time in Corvallis on Dec. 2 about transitioning to the role, his plans for the program and his goals for the future.

Shephard discussed National Signing Day and the importance it has on the program, saying he won’t force or rush anything in Corvallis.

“To be quite honest about it, we could have filled out an entire roster for signing day,” Shephard said. “But I do believe that a nucleus of our football team needs to come from local areas, from Oregon and within a five-hour radius of this institution.”
