LIHUE (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man who was the subject of a nine-day manhunt after a fatal shooting in Koloa has been sentenced to the lesser charge of manslaughter in a plea deal with prosecutors.
Chris Santos was originally charged with second-degree murder in the September 2023 shooting death of Kith Santos-Lacro, 28.
Santos was sentenced to 20 years for the manslaughter charge.
The manhunt put the victims’ family and the rest of Kauai on edge until he was captured.
“There’s nothing that would ever be enough for his sentencing because it will never bring my brother back,” said Silva-Lacro’s sister, Phrystal Bacio.
Bacio said Santos showed no remorse in court, but she’s glad it’s over.
After the shooting, Santos was tracked by more than a hundred Kauai Police officers, deputy U.S. Marsh
