The EU's plan to seize £80billion-worth of Russian assets to aid Ukraine could be the justification Vladimir Putin needs to going to war, officials in Moscow have warned.
President Putin has made another threat against the West, days after accusing his rivals of making demands on a possible peace settlement for Ukraine which he said Russia finds “absolutely unacceptable,' in the latest twist over peace talks for Ukraine.
The European Commission want to to raise around billions to help Ukraine recover from the Russian invasion, either by borrowing against frozen Russian assets - or by seizing them outright.
That statement has infuriated the Kremlin, and chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has launched into the idea, saying the proposal is being seen as direct
