The number of flu patients in hospital beds across England has already exceeded 2,000 for a single day compared with the same period last year, according to NHS data.

The 2,040 flu patients in hospital beds across England on 30 November is a rise of 74% from 1,175.

The report is the first set of statistics for 2025/26 and also includes ambulance handover delays; COVID-19 or norovirus; and staff sickness.
