YOUNGSTOWN The City of Youngstown is facing a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by a development company that alleges the city improperly ordered the demolition of the former Italian American social hall, a building the company says it was renovating. The developers claim the city's action is part of an ongoing pattern of utilizing emergency demolition orders without due process.
Armadillo Development originally filed the complaint in Mahoning County court before the City of Youngstown removed the case to the U.S. District Court on Wednesday. The suit seeks compensatory damages exceeding $25,000 and alleges violations of the U.S. Constitution's Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments.
The complaint centers on the demolition of the former Italian American social hall at 113 S. Meridian Roa
