WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - For nearly eight decades, a diner scene mural has adorned the walls of the landmark Riverside Cafe location at the corner of 13th and Bitting.
Now, after years of wear and tear, the mural got some much-needed TLC.
If you look at the mural now, it may be just a cleaned-up version of the previous one. However, the staff at the cafe said now, it’s even more special.
Longtime staff members have now replaced the generic individuals in the mural, name tags, and all other identifiers to recognize them as an integral part of the engine that runs Riverside Cafe.
“It's awesome. It's outstanding. I feel proud,” head waitress Lisa Zamora said.
Zamora has worked at the cafe for 17 years and said it has become her second home.
