Syracuse, N.Y. - The “Old Newsboys” will hit the streets Friday and Saturday hawking special editions of The Post-Standard to raise money for the annual Hope for the Holidays campaign.
The money raised goes to the Christmas Bureau, which provides toys, food and books to the neediest families in the region.
As they have for the past 93 years, employees of The Post-Standard, syracuse.com and Advance Media New York — and armies of volunteers — will swarm the region to raise money for needy families.
This year, new volunteers have joined the effort, said Thomas H. Brown, Old Newsboys/Hope for the Holidays Christmas Sale chairperson.
He said he’s recruited several new teams to hawk papers, but he can use more.
“We are looking forward to a lot of involvement this year,’' he said.
