If something is “for the birds,” that’s a good thing, according to Darren Ullmann, co-owner of Southwest Washington’s first Wild Birds Unlimited, which opened Dec. 1 in Salmon Creek.
Ullmann and his wife, Denise, both 58-year-old residents of Castle Rock, are franchisees of the Indiana-based retail company that sells birdseed, bird feeders and other supplies to support wild birds and the humans who love them.
“What I really want is just to be a community hub for people to find peace and a little bit of serenity,” Darren Ullmann said. “I want to be a place where people can learn more about what this is and how it can help them, especially veterans.”
