BELOIT ‒ West Branch Local Schools is looking for a new top administrator after Superintendent Micki Egli announced her retirement.
Egli submitted in writing her intention to retire Feb. 1 during the Board of Education meeting on Nov. 25. She also requested a leave of absence through the end of her tenure.
The board announced her resignation on Dec. 3.
Egli told the Lisbon Morning Journal that her decision to retire abruptly was due to ongoing health-related issues caused by stress. She has been open with the board about her health concerns, she added.
She also said the public scrutiny over the handling of varsity girls' basketball coach Walt DeShield's contract and an alleged incident involving his son played into her decision to leave the job.
