King Charles held yet another glittering state banquet last night to mark the last state visit of the year. The King and Queen are currently hosting German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Budenbender at Windsor Castle, and have pulled out all the stops to impress their guests.

For the German President’s first night at the castle, a huge state banquet was held in St George’s Hall. The state banquet was the first time in modern royal history that a 20ft Christmas tree stood at one end of the impressive table.
