Last year, Bloomington South seniors Abi Goodwin and Wyatt Cooksey enjoyed the feeling of making it to the state wrestling finals for the first time.

What wasn't so much fun was having to leave after losing in the first round. Not surprisingly, it became motivation for both wrestlers heading into this season.

Goodwin kept her undefeated start going in Wednesday's city duals with Bloomington North in a 48-18 win for the girls, while Cooksey's pin was one of eight in the first period in the boys' 70-11 victory over the Cougars.

Each is determined to take the next step this time around when they get to Indianapolis. That journey started the second their run at state ended last winter.
