KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Deputies in Kanawha County are trying to reunite a family with the cremated remains of a loved one.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office says an urn with the ashes of David “Teddie” Shirkey was found abandoned along Interstate 79 in Elkview.

Shirkey passed away back in June 2011 in Charleston.

At this time, deputies have tried to reach possible relatives, but many are either dead or unable to be found.
