EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - The Ten Commandments have begun to appear in classrooms across East Texas as schools comply with new Texas legislation.

Texas Senate Bill 10 was put into effect on September 1st, 2025, requiring public schools across the state to display 16x20 posters of the Ten Commandments in durable or framed condition, when provided by private donation.

“I think it drives conversation among the kids,” Mineola ISD Superintendent Cody Mize said. “And it’s not our place to interpret that for them or talk to them about that, but maybe it sparks conversations with their parents and their families. And it’ll be something for them to reflect on.”
