TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Police are advising residents on safe practices for online transactions after a deadly shooting at Tempe Marketplace earlier this week.
A spokesperson for Tempe PD says if possible, people should avoid meeting strangers in person for online sales. Police recommend meeting in broad daylight in a populated area and ensuring you don’t complete the transaction alone.
The advice comes after 19-year-old Dominic Baysinger was shot to death after allegedly agreeing to trade a ring and cash for a gun at Tempe Marketplace.
Police also recommend meeting at safe exchange zones like local police precincts.
