EXCLUSIVE : The Rest Is History , the British podcast series hosted by Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook, is being feted by Apple .

Apple Podcasts has named the series, which comes from Goalhanger , the company founded by England soccer legend Gary Lineker, the 2025 Show of the Year.

It joins Hysterical, Slow Burn and Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Wiser Than Me, which have been the three previous winners of the award, which is given out to titles that “demonstrate quality and cultural impact in podcasting”.

The Rest Is History is the first UK-based show to be named Show of the Year.

It’s been a big year for the podcast; it is the 17th most-listened-to podcast in the world between November 2024 and October 2025 and is tenth in terms of adding the most followers in that same period.
