WAPELLO COUNTY, Iowa —
First responders in Wapello County jumped into action Tuesday after a dog fell through a partially frozen pond.
When the dog was spotted, it was treading water and unable to climb onto the ice. Wapello County Rural Fire Chief Loren McIntosh used a nearby kayak to rescue the dog, named Doug Doug.
Photos of the rescue were posted to the Wapello County sheriff's Office Facebook page. This content is imported from Facebook. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.
The sheriff's office says McIntosh is a volunteer who dropped everything to save another family's loved one.
